I have supported the World Horse Welfare charity for many years now in helping to raise funds by attending events and auctioning select pieces of my work. World Horse Welfare is an international charity which not only rescues and re-homes neglected equines but also provides education and campaigns tirelessly to improve the welfare of these wonderful animals.
So, when we received an invitation to attend a Charity Polo match at Guards Polo Club, Windsor in the presence of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal (the President of World Horse Welfare), I was delighted to attend.
I had been kindly introduced to Her Royal Highness at World Horse Welfare events previously and had the privilege of being commissioned to photograph Zara Phillips with her Olympic horse, High Kingdom, in 2012.
However, I was absolutely thrilled when I received a telephone call from World Horse Welfare a couple of days prior to the Guards Polo Club Charity event. World Horse Welfare were finalising the seating plan and had seated me next to Her Royal Highness for lunch! Oh my word, what a honour!
After my initial trepidation, I have to say Her Royal Highness was the most delightful company and put me at my ease straight away. I even gave her a few tips on how to take better images on a mobile phone!
A big thanks to World Horse Welfare for the invitation and a splendid afternoon!
