EQUINE ART EXHIBITION

The ability to draw out the personalities of his various equine subjects is at the heart of Matthew’s photography. Rarely, though, do the horses he portrays have such a powerful story to tell as those unveiled in his debut exhibition at the National Stud in Newmarket on 4th July.

Matthew produced a special series of works for the invitation-only event as part of his subject for World Horse Welfare, the leading equine rescue and rehoming charity. Most of the images depicted the work undertaken at Penny Farm, in Lancashire, one of World Horse Welfare’s four Rescue and Rehoming Centres in the UK.

The images feature some of those horses being lovingly cared for by the charity, including Rocky the Adoption Horse and a mare, Minnie, along with a foal, Jubilee, which was born at Penny Farm in May.

Both Minnie and Jubilee can be seen here.

Matthew and Barry Johnson, World Horse Welfare’s Chairman, spoke of the importance of the charity’s efforts both at home and further afield.
